PIN-codes for 264,000 Indonesia bank accounts stolen

JAKARTA - A spokesman for the national police in Indonesia, Edward Aritonang, has said that 13 suspects had stolen a grand total of some 264,000 PIN-codes for personal bank accounts belonging to Indonesian customers. However not all the stolen PIN-codes are active, most of them were, as it seems. Some people may already have closed their accounts earlier.

Some of the suspects were experts in banking crimes and have experience with forgery of credit cards. As has become clear in the most recent days, billions of Rupiah's have been stolen from hundreds of accounts in Indonesia. Most of them had their accounts with big national banks like BCA, BNI and BRI.

Banking crime case applying skimming of ATMs as its mode has troubled the public. Six banks in Indonesia like Bank Central Asia, Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Permata and Bank Internasional Indonesia have been breached.

In response to the matter, the Crime and Investigation Division of the Indonesian Police announced the following list on the allegedly skimmer-installed ATMs in Bali and other areas:
