Mounting beside the Beaches

Bandar Lampung is the capital of Lampung province. It is the center of local administration, transportation and trade covering an area of 192.21 square kilometers with the total population of 636,706. Lampung topographic area consists of mountains, high land, hills and beaches in front of Lampung Bay.

Since 1983, it is under the stipulation of Government Regulation number 24 of 1983, the term of Bandar Lampung is officially used by citizen as the name of city that unites the two previous towns namely Tanjungkarang and Telukbetung. To get into Bandar Lampung, there are many ways that ones can take such as by bus, shuttle taxi, train, and by plane. There are four flights of Jakarta – Bandar Lampung served by 2 airplane companies.

Marine/Pearl Development Center

In Bandar Lampung, you can find and enjoy many good places that offer unforgettable leisure and broaden your view. Marine or Pearl Cultural Center is one of them. It is located in Hanura, 16 km westward of Bandar Lampung. This place is now developed as an area of growing special type of fishes that has high economic value such as napoleon, kerapu bebek, kakap; and other marine organism like sea horse, tiram, kimia, etc. With the help and guidance of a local in charge personnel, visitors can observe from such closed distance the growing of the selection host, included breeding and feeding development within the keramba/bouy net laying in small bay ocean location. Here, other facilities are also available such as meeting room, fiber boat and buoy keramba.

Pasir Putih Beach

Pasir Putih Beach offers excellent-white sand beaches with wonderful marine view surrounding. This tourism object is always crowded with visitors on holidays. It is located in Tarahan village, 15 km of Bandar Lampung or just 15 minutes by traveling by bus toward Bakauheni. Some activities for visitor are relaxation, swimming, sunbathing, and boating to Condong Sulah Island that is apart of this marine tourism destination. The management has equipped the resort with some facilities like shelters, washing rooms and motorized ships, parking area, etc.

Marine Tourism Condong Sulah Island

Having an original natural potential, this island has doom-like cone shaped where various beach plants including merbabu, waru, ketapang, and other kind of woods cover all tops and surfaces of the hill. Condong Sulah means incline rock-wall. Southern part of the island is now likely created for being a special arena of rock climbing, mounting, and other adventure-sports that offer full of natural challenges. The region is divided into several areas, namely Condong Sulah Island, Condong Darat, and Condong Laut. Condong Sulah and Condong Darat are frequently used for an outbound training, while Condong Laut usually for training sport of swimming and diving. Some needed facilities have been fulfilled on stages. Transportation from the island to the main land (Pasir Putih Beach) is only 15 minutes available anytime. Two cottages and a café are available too. It is recommended to do some camping activities in such flat area in the island. Pantai Timur on the east part of the island is very suitable for showering and swimming for families that do not want to go deepen into the island.

Krakatau Brief History

Krakatau (Rakata, Sertung, Panjang) is the remain volcanoes mountain of so-called Ancient Krakatau which has the diameter of 11 kilometers and 2 kilometers in height, estimated erupted and was divided into three groups of islands in around sixth century. Krakatau appeared as an active volcano until it reached the height of 830 meters from May up to August 1883. Its first rather small eruption happened regularly on the top. Then eventually on 26 and 27 August 1883, the giant eruption was happened that brought up sounds, which could be heard in Australia, Ceylon and Philippines. At that time, there were very huge tidal waves up to 40 meters high hit the lands nearby and destroyed 295 villages, brought victims more than 36,000 lives particularly surround Sunda strait and Lampung Bay Beach. The thrown material from the volcano was approximately 18 km cubic with flying dust reached 80 km up of sea level and caused very dark sky to entire world for 22 hours. Now, the remain of Krakatau volcano island is only about one-third of the previous one.
